Looking at the photographs of Leonardo Genovese, among the most cryptic contemporary photographers, a careful explorer of ancient beliefs and rituals buried in the dead earth of everyday conventions, the first lines of The Waste Land by poet T.S. Eliot resonate powerfully.

The eyes of a blue horse, the collected gestures of the scarred hands of inhabitants of the deep south - a south of the world, a south of choice - and that man-gate sitting with a dim light at the gates of a cave crowned with lush greenery, are just some of the icons that Genovese has, in the course of his now 40 years of research, been able to fix on film and then on paper, to give rise to a narrative charged with evocation, memory and hidden desires, seemingly far from our time and yet obscurely "known" by our unconscious.

The exhibition then intends to retrace, through a selection of photographs, his careful and thoughtful investigation, letting the two exhibition spaces, formerly used as places of shelter and shelter for livestock and fodder, enhance even more the ancestral matrix of Genovese's work.
